Job description

Location: Warneford Hospital, Oxford OX3 7JX We are looking to appoint a Postdoctoral Researcher to work on the ATTUNE project led by Professor Kam Bhui in Oxford and Professor Ma at Falmouth. The project brings together diverse creative-arts, digital and Health experts to investigate how adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) can affect adolescents' mental health with the aim of developing new approaches to prevention and care. This includes a youth-informed, serious game that engages young people in learning about the impact of ACEs and how to protect and promote mental health. The post is based at the Department of Psychiatry at the Warneford Hospital. The post is for a fixed term (funded to 31st August 2025) You will work closely with Professor Bhui and the senior leadership team including Professor Ma in order to carryout research for ATTUNE. This will include leadership to deliver a feasibility and acceptability study to evaluate this resource among young people who experienced ACEs and research on its ethical implications. You will lead outcomes across the project, providing effective communication and senior leadership to ensure the research progresses on schedule including recruitment of participants, consent processes, and data base management; you will use initiative and problem solve, and provide regular reports on progress, as well as original research outputs. You will adapt existing and develop new methodologies and materials and acting as a source of information and advice to other members of the group, as well as provide learning opportunities internally and externally. You will present papers at conferences or public meetings, representing the research group. You will observe all appropriate ethical and governance practices, and safeguarding protocols. You will have or be close to the completion of a PhD in a relevant subject along with relevant experience. You will have specialist knowledge of relevant areas including mental health research for young people and young adults; trauma-informed approaches; trial delivery; ethics; digital interventions; and interdisciplinary perspectives on research methods. Excellent communication skills are essential, including the ability to write for publication. Experience of independently managing a discrete area of a research project would be desirable as would experience of community based participatory research, experience-based co-design, and game-based interventions. You will be required to upload a supporting statement, a CV, and details of two referees as part of your online application. The closing date for this post is 12:00 midday 26th of January of 2024.
