Role Profile
Reporting directly to the team manager the Power Systems Technician will be part of a multi-skilled team covering the South West service area. Even though you are part of a team you’ll be providing your individual contribution to this multi skilled team providing day to day operational duties. Some travel outside of the normal team area may be required in exceptional circumstances.
Salary/package: Up to £43,750 per annum plus Unpredictability allowance 5% of salary and comprehensive company benefits
Location: South West England – Devon and Cornwall
Your key responsibilities will include:
- To undertake Planned Maintenance, proactive and reactive works issued through Resource Ops Centre within set out time frames to ensure we meet our Customer SLA’s.
- To actively participate in 24/7 365 callout response as per the scheduled rota.
- To undertake contractor supervision duties as required, including monitoring of contractors and their workmanship, so that relevant standards are met.
- To ensure that equipment operates to specified performance criteria.
- To ensure equipment the equipment is maintained to conform to agreed company standards.
- Working in a safe manner at all times, following current Health & Safety legislation and Arqiva SHEQ policy.
- Support upgrades and modifications to existing systems and networks following agreed instructions.
- Be willing to learn new transmission skills, a willingness to train to climb would be an advantage.
- PC literate and able to Maintain accurate records, documentation and reporting of actions taken.
- Complete testing and measurements to ensure compliance with regulatory, industry and customer requirements.
- Engage with customers and build positive working relationships.
Must Haves
- A valid driving license.
- 5 years previous experience in Field Services OR completion of an approved electrical apprenticeship in similar environment.
- City & Guilds 2382 - 18th Edition Regulations
- City & Guilds 2391 - Inspection and Test OR City & Guilds 2365 – Diploma in Electrical Installations.
Ideal but not essential would be:
Experience of working on Generators and Distribution boards.
Safety, Health and Environment - understands and applies legislation, policies and procedures relevant to role.
Regulation and standards – understand relevant regulatory, industry and customer standards, including customer service level agreements. Ensure appropriate technical standards are maintained and report any significant deviations from them.
Power and environment – working knowledge of the principles of power supplies, Switch boards, Generators, environmental controls, analogue and digital electronics.
Support the group’s internal and external customers in all aspects of power and environmental systems operation and maintenance.
Work as a member of a multi-discipline team to perform electrical and mechanical aspects of an integrated Maintenance Schedule and as advised by the Team Manager.
