Job description

Job Purpose Practice Development is an essential specialism of Professional Standards and Quality directorates within CityCare and ensures the development of the current workforce and the support of the future clinical workforce. This encompasses supporting pre- and post registration healthcare professionals. The role of the post holder is to coordinate and support Practice Development work of the organisation through a range of activities including: Coordinating the administrative function of the Professional Standards team involving communications with clinical staff, students, universities, preceptors and preceptees Overarching management of the Professional Standards intranet resources and documents on the POD (Policies and Organisational Documents) Library Collaborative working with CityCare teams, universities and other placement providers to support the clinical placement expansion agenda Co-ordinating the recording and monitoring of pre-registration clinical placement activity (student nurses and AHPs) and facilitating the programme of internal education audits, university visits and other placement assurance as required Co-ordinating the recording and monitoring of preceptorship activity, facilitating the programme of internal audits of Preceptorship in Practice and other quality assurance as required to maintain the National Nursing Quality Mark (currently interim) and support work to achieve the National AHP Quality Mark Supporting service evaluation and national guidance monitoring activity through contact with project leads, data collection form design and analysis, and maintaining records of activity. Promoting Professional Standards and providing administrative support with Practice Development activities to the Head of Service, Professional Lead, Learning and Education Development Nurse and Professional Standards Team and wider clinical services as required Dimensions Location of work is usually at base. However, there may be some requirement to visit other sites for meetings, quality visits, and training. The budget for Professional Standards is held by the Head of Service, however the postholder will be responsible for signposting others to relevant information and raising purchase orders (POs) and associated administration. Key Responsibilities Coordinating the administrative function of the Professional Standards Team involving communications with clinical staff, nursing and AHP students, universities, preceptors and preceptees Managing the data input and update for academic year diaries and planners, sending confirmation emails to universities and placement reminders to educators Managing welcome and induction invitations to students, obtaining student information for processing smart card and IT account applications, and support students with IT set up and smart card collection Managing welcome and Preceptorship invites to Preceptees (newly registered or new to community role) on point of employment. Monitoring Preceptor (support in practice) allocations by managers and sending welcomes to them, escalating to team where Preceptors have not been allocated) Sending communication letters to students that consent to keeping in touch. Managing database and ensuring any interest is fed back to HR to maintain contact following successful completion of placement. Supporting calendar management of the team, such as booking in meetings and training delivery. Manage RAID log for Professional Cabinet. Overarching management of the Professional Standards intranet resources and documents on the POD (Policies and Organisational Documents) Library Establish and maintain a schedule for policy review and document tracking to manage timely review, ratification, upload, extension and withdrawal of documents on POD (Policies and Organisational Documents) Library. Ensure any policy review is fed back to the team for action and share with Clinical Policy Approval Group members as appropriate. Maintaining all Professional Standards intranet resources and the Practice Learning G drive are kept up-to-date. Collaborative working with CityCare teams, universities and other placement providers to support the clinical placement expansion agenda Co-ordinating placement information with CityCare teams, including allocation details. Sharing information with universities as required, including troubleshooting basic problems relating to Practice Learning, i.e. finding out students personal tutor Working with other placement providers to co-ordinate placement activities across the ICS Co-ordinating the recording and monitoring of placement activity, facilitating the programme of internal education audits, university visits and other placement assurance as required Ensuring that NHSE database with placement activity is up-to-date for tariff confirmation. Using the tariff tool (Student Data Collection Tool- SDCT) to confirm placement activity across the organisation for collection periods. Co-ordinating with CityCare teams to ensure audits are in date and placement information is accurate on the audit system, (PARE). Co-ordinate face-to-face audits ensuring the appropriate people are available for these to take place. Co-ordinating the recording and monitoring of preceptorship activity, facilitating the programme of internal audits of Preceptorship in Practice and other quality assurance as required to maintain the National Nursing Quality Mark (currently interim) and support work to achieve the National AHP Quality Mark Manage the administrative function of the Preceptorship Development Programme, ensuring data bases are kept up-to-date. Developing and co-ordinating an internal audit function of Preceptorship supervision within practice. Co-ordinating the evaluation responses from both the sessions and programme completion. Ensuring resources are printed and ready to be used in development sessions and following up with Preceptees following the sessions. Supporting service evaluation and national guidance monitoring activity through contact with project leads, data collection form design and analysis, and maintaining records of activity. Promoting Professional Standards and providing administrative support with Practice Development activities to the Head of Service, Professional Lead, Learning and Education Development Nurse and Professional Standards Team and wider clinical services as required
