Job description

Our client is leading National Social Housing Contractor seeking an experienced Preconstruction Manager to join their South Yorkshire business. This role is pivotal in ensuring the successful planning and execution of social housing projects, focusing on internal works, External Wall Insulation (EWI), and external cladding. Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Planning and Coordination:

    • Oversee the preconstruction phase of social housing projects, ensuring all activities are aligned with project objectives and timelines.
    • Develop detailed project plans, including budgets, schedules, and resource allocation.
  2. Tendering and Procurement:

    • Lead the tendering process, preparing comprehensive bid packages and evaluating proposals from subcontractors and suppliers.
    • Negotiate contracts and ensure procurement activities comply with company policies and industry standards.
  3. Design and Technical Review:

    • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to review and refine project designs.
    • Ensure all technical aspects of the project, particularly related to internal works, EWI, and external cladding, meet regulatory requirements and quality standards.
  4. Risk Management:

    • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project stability and success.
    • Conduct regular risk assessments and update project plans accordingly.
  5. Stakeholder Management:

    • Maintain effective communication with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure all parties are informed and engaged.
    • Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders to facilitate smooth project execution.
  6. Financial Oversight:

    • Monitor project budgets and ensure financial targets are met.
    • Prepare regular financial reports and updates for senior management.
  7. Compliance and Quality Control:

    • Ensure all preconstruction activities adhere to health and safety regulations, building codes, and quality standards.
    • Implement quality control measures to guarantee high standards of workmanship throughout the project lifecycle.
  8. Team Leadership:

    • Manage and mentor a team of preconstruction professionals, fostering a collaborative and productive working environment.
    • Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team capabilities and performance.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Preconstruction Manager or similar role within the social housing sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of internal works, EWI, and external cladding processes and standards.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
  • Proficient in project management software and tools.
