Job Description:Overview: An SEN Primary School in Purley is seeking a dedicated and reliable Caretaker to join our team on a part-time basis. This position offers the potential for a temporary to permanent transition for the right candidate. The Caretaker will be responsible for ensuring the school environment is safe, clean, and well-maintained, supporting the needs of our students and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance and Repairs:
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including minor repairs and general upkeep of the school premises.
- Ensure all equipment and facilities are in good working order, reporting any major issues to the management.
Health and Safety:
- Conduct regular health and safety checks to ensure compliance with school policies and regulations.
- Address any hazards promptly to maintain a safe environment for students and staff.
Cleaning and Hygiene:
- Oversee and conduct daily cleaning routines, ensuring all areas of the school are clean and sanitary.
- Manage waste disposal and recycling processes efficiently.
Security:
- Ensure the security of the school premises by locking and unlocking doors and windows as required.
- Monitor and respond to any security concerns, including liaising with external security services if necessary.
Support Services:
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of equipment and furniture for school events and activities.
- Respond to urgent maintenance requests and other ad hoc duties as directed by the school management.
Qualifications and Skills:
Experience: Previous experience in a caretaking, maintenance, or similar role, preferably within an educational setting.
Skills:
- Strong practical skills in general maintenance and repairs.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic IT skills for logging maintenance requests and reporting issues.
