About the Role

Base Location: Leeds, Perth, Glasgow preferred. Other locations may be considered but an ability and willingness to collaborate with the SSE Thermal team regularly at a base location is a requirement for the role.

Salary: £45,400 - £68,200+ performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

Working Pattern: Permanent| Full Time | Flexible First options available

SSE Thermal are currently looking for a Mechanical Pressure Systems Engineer who will work to deliver Asset Integrity & Pressure Systems Compliance on our fleet of power stations and gas storage assets. The position is a central role within SSE Thermal and, as such, will work across all UK & Ireland Assets.

You will work on the following types of activities:

- Asset integrity and inspection support to our stations and plant, ensuring compliance with UK standards and legislation.

- Asset health auditing supporting our delivery of high levels of equipment integrity and reliability; typically delivered through Asset Life Assessments.

- Be the Qualified Engineer supporting governance of new build projects, inline with SSE Thermal Engineering Standards, where the role will be the key interaction with our design, quality and construction teams.

What do I need?

The role will suit a degree qualified engineer with experience of essential requirements of handling gas and fuel systems.

To be considered for this role, the essential criteria you will meet will be:
- A degree in Mechanical or Materials Engineering (or similar).
- A working knowledge of relevant primary design codes, as well as relevant assessments covering Fitness for Service and Repair.

- Knowledge of inspection systems that deliver PSSR compliance.
- Be a Chartered Engineer or working to toward becoming a Chartered Engineer.

The role will primarily be focussed on Vessels, Tanks, Pipework and Pipelines used within the Gas Storage Business but also our fuel systems feeding out Thermal Power Fleet.

As we develop our technology toward carbon capture, hydrogen fuel, hydrogen storage and generation, hearing from an engineer with that background will be complimentary for the role on offer.
