Pricing Analyst - About the role
This is a role within the Actuarial pricing team of a leading Lloyd’s insurance company and will suit a graduate with a numerate degree. Prior experience working within actuarial teams and/or insurance and experience of data visualisation or programming languages such as VBA (eg. on coursework) would be advantageous.
The Pricing team works closely with underwriting teams to build pricing models that allow underwriters to price, compare and monitor accounts. Subsequently, data captured in these models and in wider systems will be used in building pricing Management Information (MI) dashboards.
This role is initially a fixed term contract with potential to extend depending on business needs. There is no actuarial study support provided as part of the contract.
Pricing Analyst - Key duties
Role is primarily to provide support to design, build and enhance data visualisation dashboards (expected in Tableau or Power BI) that meet underwriter requirements and incorporate improved insights (in line with Actuarial pricing frameworks and technological solutions platform requirements)
Work collaboratively with underwriters, the pricing team and management across the pricing MI planning and development process, in coordination of best practices, and sharing knowledge
Research and develop techniques and approaches to deliver improvements in MI capabilities, data quality and operational efficiency through model design and use of technology.
Document new dashboards and providing training
Communicate and present pricing MI dashboards to business stakeholders. Assistance for other pricing team activities as required, for example in building Excel based pricing models with VBA
Pricing Analyst - Key requirements
Strong IT skills, including comprehensive knowledge of Excel
Working knowledge of VBA
Understanding of data warehouses, data manipulation, and SQL
Experience in data visualisation
2.1 or 1st degree in Mathematics or numeric subject (e.g. Physics, Engineering, Statistics)
Strong 'A’ levels, including Mathematics or equivalent
