Job description

Academic Appointments are currently working alongside a specialist provision in Ripon, North Yorkshire to appoint open-minded and proactive HLTA's, specialising in Primary Special Needs to start ASAP on a full time basis.

All staff at the school are committed to their pupils and strive to bring out the very best in all.

The school was graded ‘Good’ in its last Ofsted inspection, with the ‘leadership and management’ being rated as ‘Outstanding’

The school caters for pupils aged 4 - 10yrs, across 2 sites supporting a wide range of moderate learning difficulties; severe learning difficulties; complex & multiple needs; Asperger’s; Autism and Social, Emotional & Mental Health Needs. Some students have physical, medial, speech & language, visual and hearing or sensory impairments. Therefore, it is beneficial that candidates has previous experience of working with Complex Communication Needs and Autism.

Due to the expansion of this specialist school they're currently open to a variety of pervious skills and experiences, offering the chance to work within the school on a supply basis initially with the intention of them applying permanently once they have gain in house training and hands on experience. 

Requirements:

  • Must hold HLTA Status or a degree and experience teaching SEN pupils  
  • Recent experience in SEN schools is essential
  • 2x references
  • A valid DBS or willing to obtain one
  • A qualification or other relevant training within Special Needs (eg. Team Teach, Makaton, Moving & Handling) would be an advantage but not essential
