A leading Irish consultancy firm specializing in Civil Infrastructure, Waste & Resource Management, and Renewables is in search of a Senior Engineer (Drainage) to join their well-established Sustainable Infrastructure team based in Cork, Dublin, or Carlow.
The ideal candidate will:
- Possess Chartered Engineer status or be working towards it, with a background in delivering drainage networks for various projects, including highways, active travel routes, greenways, and urban developments.
- Demonstrate proficiency in client and stakeholder management, along with the ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary design teams on infrastructure projects.
- Have the opportunity to take the lead on infrastructure, urban development, and renewable energy projects.
Responsibilities of the role include:
- Leading the design and delivery of drainage systems for infrastructure projects such as highways, active travel routes, greenways, and urban developments.
- Designing drainage networks, ponds, attenuation, and Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDs).
- Overseeing hydrological and flood risk assessments for different sites.
- Utilizing software like InfoDrainage, Micro Drainage, Causeway Flow, and/or Autodesk Storm and Sewer for modeling purposes.
- Planning and managing CAD documentation in collaboration with CAD Technicians.
- Collaborating closely with other Engineers, Ecologists, and Scientists within the organization.
- Supervising and mentoring junior staff members within the Sustainable Infrastructure team.
- Preparing technical reports, tender documents, and proposals.
- Participating in onsite meetings with clients and other stakeholders.
- Ensuring projects are completed within agreed-upon timescales, quality standards, and budgets.
- Upholding compliance with Quality Assurance, Management Systems, and relevant Health and Safety legislation.
Requirements for the position:
- A degree in Civil Engineering.
- A minimum of 7 years' post-graduate experience in Civil Engineering.
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards it.
- Expertise in highway drainage systems design, including SuDs, with an advantage in Nature-Based Solutions experience.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D is beneficial.
- Proficiency in civil design software.
- Excellent communication, management, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Experience collaborating with technical specialists and engineers.
- Previous experience in a Consulting Engineering or similar firm.
- Efficient work methods, both as part of a team and independently.
- Adaptability to new procedures and systems.
- Willingness to travel for site visits and client meetings.
- Possession of a full driver's license.
