SalaryThe Liaison and Diversion Service offer opportunities to divert low level offending men and women from prison. This includes offering the court an option for a Primary Mental Health Treatment Requirement (PMHTR). The team offer all-age triage and assessment in police custody and court to individuals who may be presenting with a range of vulnerabilities which may include mental health problems. Following the assessment, a decision on suitability for the PMHTR will be made and an assistant psychologist can provide a manualised psychological intervention for up to 12 weeks.
The post-holder will be advising on suitability and approving reports for PMHTRs, supervising the assistant psychologists on the psychological interventions they provide, and offer psychological consultation and teaching to the team. The ideal candidate will have knowledge and/or experience of working with men and women have been involved in the criminal justice system. We are looking for someone who is dynamic and persevering in their work, who is naturally enquiring and inquisitive, have excellent risk assessment and report writing skills, and the ability to quickly establish and develop rapport with service users and carers. You will be required to work closely with our partners including Probation, BeNCH, and the Courts. You will also be part of the wider Psychology workforce in Bedfordshire and Luton.
