About Counter Terrorism Policing - East Midlands (CTP-EM)

Counter Terrorism Policing - East Midlands (CTP-EM) are looking for a dynamic and high performing Principal Counter Terrorism Security Advisor.

We work as part of the national Counter Terrorism Policing network to keep people safe by preventing, deterring, and investigating terrorist and extremist activity.  We work collaboratively with a range of partners to reduce the threat and fear of terrorism and wider national security threats and deliver our objectives across the 4 pillars of HM Governments CONTEST strategy - PURSUE, PREVENT, PROTECT & PREPARE

Overview of the role

In this role, you will ensure the efficient delivery of Counter Terrorism protective security strategies; represent the regional, Protect and Prepare lead as required on Counter Terrorism protective security issues and maintain positive and effective engagement with Police Chief Officers teams, Senior Investigation Officers (SIOs), the national CT network, MI5, NPSA, NaCTSO, Local Authorities (to CEO Level).

Key Responsibilities

  • To be accountable to the regional Protect and Prepare lead for the delivery of CTSA protect and prepare national and regional priorities within the East Midlands.
  • To quality assure, the consistency and compliance with national standards in all areas of CTSA activities, to challenge individual and team performance where appropriate, seeking efficiencies and consistency of effort.
  • To direct the promotion of awareness of the terrorist threat and develop positive ongoing relationships with internal and external partners and the delivery of presentations.

 

The must haves

  • The applicant must have successfully completed the national CTSA accreditation process and attained a City and Guilds Licentiateship in Counter Terrorism Security Management or a certificate of occupational competence as a CTSA and maintained accredited status.
  • To hold the Award in Education and Training (AET) level 3 qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience of working and liaising with other statutory agencies and business communities developing partnerships in problem solving
  • Hold a full driving licence and prepared to travel throughout the East Midlands Policing region.

Security Requirements

This post requires regular access to sensitive material and applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo enhanced security clearance before taking up the post. 

The material may be of sensitivity to the UK and may therefore be restricted to UK nationals.  In approved circumstances, dual nationals (of which one element is British) may be granted access.

However, if potential conflicts of interest cannot be managed, the post holder will not be permitted access the systems or material required for the role and will not therefore be able to perform their duties. 

For the purposes of safeguarding national security, applicants who do not hold or achieve the required levels of security clearance requirements cannot be offered the post.
