Water and Waste business unit (WAW) is a true end-to-end business as part of Wärtsilä Portfolio Businesses. Principal Engineer in Process Engineering

 

As a Principal Engineer in Process Engineering, you will play a crucial role in our Services department, offering advanced technical guidance and support for our cutting-edge waste water products and processes. Your expertise will be key in ensuring our solutions meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and environmental compliance. The preferred location is Poole, Dorset, UK.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Serve as a product expert with advanced knowledge in Water & Waste products and processes.
  • Lead the technical support function, providing guidance to engineers in the field.
  • Analyze and review commissioning data, technical service reports, and health check reports.
  • Provide expert feedback on process-related data from customers and service engineers.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety policies on-site.
  • Train and mentor team members to enhance their technical skills and knowledge.
  • Engage in continuous improvement by providing feedback on product issues and suggestions for enhancement.
  • Support the delivery of product training to ship staff and engineers.
  • Conduct vessel visits to support customers and engineers during critical project phases (approximately 30% travel).

 

Requirements for the role:

 

  • Higher-level qualifications (Degree/Master’s Degree) in Water/Waste Water Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in Process Engineering, ideally specializing in water and waste systems.
  • Deep knowledge of advanced waste water systems, including membrane technology and solid waste technology.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to handle complex process issues independently.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a high standard of customer care.
  • Ability to train and mentor team members, promoting continuous learning and development.
  • Proactive attitude towards adopting new policies, procedures, and tools.
  • Membership in professional or technical institutions is an advantage.
