We need an AWEsome Principal Internal Regulator to join us at the AWE.
This is an exciting time to join us as a Principal Internal Regulator (Peer Review) as we begin a once in a generation programme of work in support of the United Kingdom's Continuous at Sea Deterrent.
We are in the countryside between Reading and Basingstoke with onsite parking. There are good bus links between Reading, Basingstoke and Newbury.
Salary: Starting at £55,540 we are very open to upwards negotiation for the right person.
Summary:
As a Principal Internal Regulator (Peer Review), you will champion, guide and conduct Peer Reviews on behalf of AWE. We will use your background within a highly regulated industry to provide expert opinions on your findings to our governance committees to inform decision making.
A typical day for a Principal Internal Regulator(Peer Review):
- Provision of early support and advice to the company on Peer Review matters
- Bring together, motivate and develop Peer Review teams
- Championing the value of Peer Review to AWE
- Provision of technical support to Peer Review teams within your discipline
- Growing personal specialism(s) by continuous professional development such as membership of relevant professional bodies
- Sharing best practice across the wider team along with an external focus on the wider Peer Review community in high hazard industries

We need you to have:
- The ability to understand how to form an effective safety justification
- Comfortable presenting review findings in reports and presentations across all levels
- A diplomatic yet proportional approach
- Experience of safety assessment and justification in a nuclear, high hazard and/or highly regulated industry at a technical level
- A collegiate outlook
Nice to have but not a deal breaker:
- Knowledge of AWE/MOD Facilities, Processes and Operations
- Exposure to current legislation associated with licensee's operations, and the ONR/MoD licensing regime
- Media training is desirable

This job role is suitable for hybrid working, which is an informal, non-contractual and voluntary arrangement, blending a balance of attendance in the workplace (your permanent duty station) and working from home as a personal choice. If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post.
There is a requirement for regular attendance on site. We offer a very competitive relocation package if you are not from the area.
The successful candidate is required to carry out all their duties from a UK location and cannot do so from an overseas location at any time.
