Job Title: Principal Manufacturing Engineering Manager - Dreadnought

Location: Barrow-In-Furness (On-site)

Salary: Competitive

What you'll be doing:

  • The Principal Manufacturing Engineering Manager will own the Level 3 Build Strategy/Module Strategy & Class Manufacturing Bill of Material (BoM) for the Dreadnought Programme

  • The Principal Manufacturing Engineering Manager will ensure that their managers and teams deliver Manufacturing Engineering data, which instructs how to convert the Design intent into actionable instructions allowing Operations to manufacture quality product, in a safe, efficient and consistent manner, in-line with Programme timescales

  • It is the Principal Managers responsibility to ensure that all the above technical objectives are achieved within the scope of Manufacturing Engineering policies and mandates, by suitably qualified and experienced people. Additionally, they will have appropriate Management objectives

  • Management and integration of multi-skilled Manufacturing Engineering teams; leadership of Manufacturing engineering resources, delivery of packages of work/services, involving new products and/or complex upgrades, utilising new and existing technologies, requiring multiple interfaces with customers/suppliers & other stakeholders at senior levels of the business

  • Manage and report on the Manufacturing Engineering CAM - Actuals reporting/ EVM assessments and Risk and Opportunity management

  • As the Principal Manufacturing Engineering Manager for the Dreadnought Programme, you will be responsible for the Management of leaders in the following areas - Production Change Management/Build Definition/Manufacturing Module Definition/Digital Manufacturing and Key Build Activity Definition

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Membership of a recognised institution with the required experience and qualifications to become chartered, coupled with significant Manufacturing Engineering experience

  • Qualified to Master's degree level in Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent experience within the industry

  • Significant demonstrable experience leading at a senior level in a Manufacturing Engineering environment is essential, preferably in the Marine/Defence or Nuclear sector

  • Proven ability to manage large, multi-tiered teams across multiple Manufacturing Engineering disciplines

  • Ability to obtain ITAR, PSA, CA and NNPPI security clearance as required for specific duties

Desirable:

  • Experience of working in Navy/Marine/Ex-Military environments

  • Experience within SAP TeamCentre software environments

The Manufacturing & Build strategy - Dreadnought team:

Multi-tiered team of 50+ people, you will be responsible for teams across Build Strategy, Build Definition, Modularisation and Production Change. The role will expose you to managing the First of Class build along with the Boat 2+ Build Strategy for one of the most complex manufacturing programmes in the UK today. You will be responsible for providing a stable strategy for all downstream departments to work from while being adaptable to account for emergent challenges within the programme.
