White label Recruitment are very excited to be working with an extremely reputable and market leading manufacturing company who are seeking a Principal Design Engineer to join expand the design team. The company manufacture bespoke special purpose machinery and are based in South Manchester.
Due to a growing order book, and the constant development of new products, the company is seeking an experiencedPrincipalMechanical Design Engineer to join their busy and growing Mechanical Design department to be involved with innovated design throughout the full product life cycle.
The role of thePrincipalMechanical Design Engineer is as follows:
Determine customer/process requirements from discussions and technical documentation.
Produce customer sign off and technical documentation such as functional design specifications and system manuals.
Produce accurate, functional and cost-effective components and assemblies using 3D Solidworks CAD software.
Produce accurate 2D detail and assembly drawings to convey appropriate manufacturing and assembly information.
Produce accurate bills of materials, suitable for component procurement, spare parts lists and assembly records.
Support the machine commissioning activities in collaboration with the commissioning team to help ensure a successful FAT & SAT.
Produce pneumatic, hydraulic and vacuum schematics, using relevant symbols and notations.
Provide occasional site support for customer meetings, projects scoping and SAT activities.
Carry out design calculations either by hand or using software to verifying suitability and performance.
Collaborate with wider design teams and departments to improve functions and processes.
Responsible for checking drawings and approving designs.
Experience in the following Preferred:
Degree/HND/HNC or higher in Mechanical Engineering
7 years or more industry experience
Extensive experience with 3D CAD software. Preferably Solidworks.
Experience with PDM software.
FEA experience. Preferably with Solidworks Simulation.
Extensive experience with hand calculations for drive systems, thermal expansion and conductivity, stress etc.
Experience in bespoke/special purpose machine building and design.
Experience with robotics and automation.
Ability to deal with a broad range of stakeholders including customers, suppliers and internal.
Package:
£50-60k depending on experience
38 hours per week
