Provide high quality and effective product development. Drive technical change, review code base and ensure that everyone is following same technical direction. Act as a bridge between architecture and the production team.

  • Driving technical change, working closely with the engineering and development manager, leads and the architects, scheduling in workshops and training days.
  • Coaching software engineers.
  • Working closely with the architecture team, reviewing their proposal and aligning them with our code base/product.
  • Produce prototypes that could be handed over to the software engineers for full scale development.
  • Constantly review code base, propose suggestions, where we can remove waste, complexity, inefficiency and misalignment.
  • Undertake research as required and attend conferences and events, documenting afterwards to extend the team knowledge.
  • Documenting decisions and progress in line with corporate and team project management.
  • Identify and resolve development issues for other team members.
  • Hands on coding as required.
  • Participate where required in employee recruitment process.

Support:
Assess the impact of reported or suspected product defects and advise accordingly.

  • Advise on, produce and test product corrections in accordance with prevailing standards.
  • Provide advice and assistance to meet time critical or contractual commitments.
  • Respond to customer queries directly, professionally and effectively.
  • On agreement, attend on customer site to undertake product-related tasks.

Organisation:

  • Identify product or procedural deficiencies and recommend action.
  • Proactively record and disseminate product and technical knowledge to colleagues and throughout the organisation as appropriate.
  • Identify requirements and opportunities for personal development including technical and product training.
