Principal Planning & Highways Lawyer

We are currently working in partnership with a Local Council based in Northamptonshire, who are recruiting for a Principal Planning & Highways Lawyer on a temporary three-month contract with the scope for extension.
 
The ideal candidate will have worked in Local Government and will be willing to attend Planning Committees once a month.
The hourly rate of pay is negotiable dependent upon experience.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):

• Providing planning and highways advice to internal clients and Councillors
• Reviewing planning reports before they go to planning committees.
• Attending planning committees once a month (evening meeting) and attending the Chair’s briefing
• Providing legal advice on all matters relating to Highways
• Assisting the Council with any planning inquiries
• Drafting instructions to Counsel as and when required

 
Experience required:

• Experience required in Local Government
• Experience required in attending Planning Committees

 
Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

• Providing legal advice
• Reviewing reports
• Drafting instructions to counsel

 
Rewards and Benefits:

• Role is mostly remote besides having to attend Planning Committee’s once a month

 
Working hours:

• 37 hours a week
• Monday – Friday
