Job description

One of RHL's long established Oil & Gas sector clients is now actively seeking applications for an experienced Principal Process Engineer.

This opportunity would suit an individual with an Oil & Gas Process Design background, with some site based exposure to work client side, overseeing UK downstream projects.

*This is a Hybrid role. Home based plus travel to sites in the South Coast and Scotland
Salary: Up to £65,000
+ Excellent Pension scheme and generous annual leave.

Working with our client's multi disipline team you will be the Technical Authority for Process Engineer.

You will mange all process and chemical engineering aspects of design and construction including process design; mass & energy balances; hazard studies; sizing, pressure and flow calculations and typical process deliverables.

The location of the preferred individual is flexible but based either south coast or Scotland would be an advantage.

Some travel with overnight stays to other sites within the UK and occasional overseas travel to support the business as required. A full (preferably) clean driving licence is essential for this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Function as an SME and the Technical Authority for all Process Engineering Matters,
  • Own and maintain all agency Process Engineering standards,
  • Successfully deliver Process Engineering oversight and activities within the company, predominantly to assist works at client sites.
  • Function as a key part of the Project Acceptance Team for Third Party Capital Projects, Major Projects and Minor New Works Projects.
  • Undertake process design / works in line with company standards and relevant and UK / European legislation,
  • Develop Process Engineering scopes of work/ basis of design for studies and projects,
  • Accepting the quality of engineering contractor design work to ensure compliance with agreed client design specifications,
  • Prep, review and checking of process deliverables - PFDs, P&IDs, datasheets, specifications, process descriptions, philosophies and narratives calculations,
  • Undertake safety related calculations and provide input to safety reviews HSE/HAZOP/ALARP/MOC,
  • Use process simulation software as necessary to aid the project,
  • Be a champion of the required in house process standards,
  • Coordinate process design activities carried out by subcontractors,
  • Business travel in support of studies, projects and consultancy (There is flexibility around travel).

Knowledge, skills, education and experience required

  • Experience in structured, preferably, Energy, Oil & Gas, project design philosophy undertaking design activities,
  • Site Operations experience, including debottlenecking and plant troubleshooting,
  • Process design parameter development,
  • Team Lead experience,
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with excellent communication skills,
  • Experience or knowledge of working on COMAH or similar high hazard sites,
  • Understanding of Design Authority and Technical Authority responsibilities.
  • You will be chartered and hold either a Bachelor of Science, BEng or MEng in Chemical or Process Engineering (or equivalent experience) with preferable design experience within a project environment.
