The Regeneration & Economic Growth Service is delivering an exciting portfolio of projects and services to transform Derby’s city centre, support key economic sectors and create vibrancy and growth for the benefit of our residents, businesses and visitors. We have a fantastic record of attracting £multi-million funding allocations to support our work and punch above our weight relative to the size of our team and current constraints of Local Government funding.
As Principal Regeneration Manager you will be driving forward delivery of key projects and programmes in our city centre, working hand in glove with key public and private sector partners. You will be responsible for external funding management, development of business cases and developing the right mechanisms to tackle a range of regeneration challenges. You will be skilled at communicating progress, risks and issues on a complex regeneration projects and programmes to a variety of stakeholders and will contribute to the wider aims of the Department and Council as set out in our Council Plan.

The Opportunity
In the role of Principal Regeneration Manager, here’s an example of what you’ll be doing to make an impact:
Developing new regeneration projects and programmes by:
i) Devising strong project proposals that are aligned with the objectives of partners.
ii) Commissioning and managing professional advice as part of the development of project and programme Business Cases
iii) Working across the Council to ensure that proposals are ‘joined up’ with other services
iv) Identifying and securing external funding
Managing the delivery of projects and programmes by:-
i) Establishing and leading a system of effective project governance in accordance with established Council frameworks
ii) Delivering projects either directly or by managing colleagues to do so
iii) Identifying areas of project risk and responding with suitable mitigation strategies
iv) Forging effective working relationships with colleagues in a wider range of subject areas and technical disciplines (e.g property, planning, transport, culture) to ensure the best possible outcome for the city of Derby and its citizens.
About You
To be successful in this role, you’ll ideally have...
A degree-level qualification or equivalent
Experience of delivering major regeneration or infrastructure projects
Skills in managing significant budgets involving a range of funding sources
A track record in effectively managing colleagues, project teams, consultants and contractors
Excellent leadership, communication and collaboration qualities
Knowledge of project management approaches
Ability to problem solve involving a range of stakeholders
