POSTHOLDER REQUIREMENTS
The candidate shall demonstrate the following capabilities:
Essential:
- Understanding and practical application of conventional UK signalling application projects
- Practical understanding and application of the Common Safety Method for Risk Evaluation and Assessment and associated procedures and application
- Demonstrable ability and history of interfacing with the UK railway industry / safety leaders in a competent professional manner, whilst maintaining safety and commercial interests
- Practical understanding and application of the CENELEC Standards including BSEN50126/8/9 and associated procedures and application
- Ability to work autonomously to timescales and prioritise work to meet deadlines
- Practical Railway industry experience in safety engineering or Safety Assurance and systems engineering
Desirable:
- Recognised accreditation against the Common Safety Method for Risk Evaluation and Assessment
- Understanding (and preferably practical application) of
- Conventional Computer Based signalling and interlocking applications
- ETCS/ERTMS in both trackside and train‑borne applications
- Control Centre applications
- Practical Railway industry experience in homologation
- Experience in Safety or Software auditing
- Manage and coordinate personal activities and those of others against conflicting timescales and priorities
- Experience and practical application of Reliability Availability and Maintainability Modelling and Failure Recording and Corrective Action System
- Good style of concise written arguments and report preparation
- Attention to detail
- Good interpersonal and communication skills (in written and spoken English)
- Understanding and development of database related applications
- Chartered Engineer Status (or equivalent)
- Educated to Higher National Diploma or equivalent in Systems Engineering related subject with a Good pass in GCSE English and Mathematics (or equivalent)
