Job description

If you are an engineer with previous experience of seamanship systems, either from a civilian or military background, then please read on as this could be the role for you

I am currently recruiting for a leading Defence manufacturer for a role that can be carried out either fully remote with monthly visits to Glasgow, or on a hybrid arrangement if preffered visiting one of these locations: Glasgow, Bristol, Portsmouth, Frimley, New Malden.

Key responsbilities:

  • Support delivery and integration of the seamanship systems on the programme
  • Develop procurement pack documentation including technical equipment specifications
  • Production of Seamanship engineering deliverables
  • Ownership of Seamanship domain changes including preparation of Problem Reports and Change Requests, presentation to the Enterprise Change Board and implementation of changes once approved
  • Close liaison with customers on all technical issues requiring their buy-in and acceptance
  • Attending Project Assurance Reviews and associated Feeder Reviews
  • Taking ownership of Seamanship requirement and progressive acceptance activities
  • Delivering of Seamanship domain hazards, preparation/approval of safety assessments and documents, including attendance at product safety working groups and hazard review working group meetings
  • Production of Layout Drawings, keyplans & schedules, population of Windchill Product Lifecycle model

Experience:

A strong background in marine engneering is required, with previous knowledge of seamanship systems vital to this position. This experience could be in the form of work at the design stage of the systems, or an in-depth technical understanding of them from working on ships.
