Principal Substation Design Engineer
Contract - 6 months - Potential for Hybrid working
£450 per day (Umbrella)
Our client are a household name in the UK engineering industry, they seek a highly experience Design Engineer for electrical substation projects up to 400kV. Assist Design Delivery Managers and oversee planning, procurement, and commercial aspects of projects.
Key Responsibilities:
·Ensure adherence to Company's Quality, Health & Safety, and Environmental Procedures.
·Lead engineering design delivery in line with schedules, quality standards, and budgets.
·Functionally approve designs as per authorization levels.
·Address design gaps in collaboration with project engineering managers.
·Assist in day-to-day management of design teams and conduct Performance Development Reviews (PDRs).
·Coordinate workload, prioritize tasks, and review Design and Engineering Management Plans (DEMP).
·Collaborate with Project Managers on contract requirements, variations, and early warnings.
·Ensure compliance with national/international standards, Health & Safety Procedures, and CDM regulations.
·Lead technical direction, model approvals, commissioning packages, and final record submissions.
·Provide support for design-related issues in manufacturing, construction, and tendering.
 
Education:
·HND in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
 
Experience:
·Ideally around 10 years in a Design Office environmen (flexible based on project exposure)
·Design and specification of electrical power systems.
·Senior HV Substation Primary Plant Design experience.
·TP141 HV Substation qualification (advantageous).
·Familiarity with Autocad, Microsoft Office, and P&C aspects preferred.
