Role Description:
This is an excellent opportunity to join an expanding fire safety consultancy and lead the North-West Fire Engineering Team. As the leader of the regional Fire Engineering team, the applicant will be responsible for:
- Managing P&L and general financial performance of the team including debt management
- Contribution to growth and recruitment of the team as necessary
- Wellbeing and development of the staff within the team
- Managing technical delivery of the work within the team
- Assisting in undertaking administrative work as necessary
The primary service delivery of the Fire Engineering Division is as follows:
- Fire Safety Strategy Design & Development (Fire Strategy, Fire Statement, etc.)
- External Wall Fire Safety (FRAEW, Remediation, etc.)
- Fire Engineering Analysis & Assessment (CFD, Evacuation Modelling, etc.)
- Expert Services (Advisory, Witness, etc.)
- Fire Safety Audits
- Peer Review
- Safety Case
Additional responsibilities of the role may be summarised as follows:
- Undertaking business development activities to support work winning for the Fire Engineering Division and overall business (including managing existing client relationships as well as developing new client contacts).
- Lead role in relation to the technical delivery of projects, and provision of technical supervision, guidance and coaching to less experienced staff.
- Acting as a recognised point of contact for clients on projects.
- Assist in the development of fee proposals.
- Work in a range of sectors including residential, commercial, industrial, etc.
Skills:
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following qualities and qualification:
- Qualification to at least Level 6 (BEng or BSc)
- Strong experience working with fire standards including but not limited to BS9999, BS9991, BS7974, etc.
- Understanding of current and upcoming fire safety legislation and guidance in the UK
- Strong technical delivery capability including a strong record of successfully delivered fire strategies
- Strong experience leading and managing complex projects
- Membership of IFE or equivalent
- Achieved or ability to work towards chartered Fire Engineer
- Experience with business development and building client relationships
- Pro-active and ambitious mindset
- Experience with line management and development of team members
- Experience with CFD modelling would be preferable
