Role Title: Process Chemist
Duration: 12 months
Location: Montrose
Rate: £21.00 per hour – PAYE
Role purpose / summary
The purpose of this role is to provide Process Chemistry expertise to the site’s manufacturing processes and operations.
The role holder will contribute to the resolution of technical issues having Process Chemistry dimensions. They will make decisions and recommendations relating to their technical responsibilities.
Close collaboration is essential with the analytical chemistry and process engineering disciplines within Manufacturing, Science and Technology (MSAT).
As site MSAT process contact, the job holder will be the custodian of the chemistry process, and provide a point of focus for all other functions on site relating to that stage and/or product.  Close co-operation with manufacturing Operations, Engineering, Quality and Regulatory is essential.
As product owner, the Process Chemist will engage with the supply chain technical organisation both through customers and suppliers to ensure the chemistry process provides API of robust quality for input to drug product formulation and that technical issues potentially impacting on supply are properly understood, escalated and managed.
In this role you will
Provide support to manufacturing Operations to enable routine day to day manufacture, Quality function to enable informed decisions on non-routine matters, EHS function to enable good practice and compliance with legislation and Capital Engineering Projects to ensure adequate design and commissioning of new plant and processes.
Take technical ownership of API / material & provide technical input to customer sites
Assume ownership and continuous improvement responsibility of product-related processes in line with cGMP and the appropriate process for change control, including ongoing maintenance of Process Guides, batch document templates, Technical Risk Assessments, Product Control Strategy throughout its commercial life, including ongoing data trending and review
Support technology transfer for respective products from R&D into manufacturing and subsequent transfers to other sites.
Support global regulatory change and compliance
Be responsible for the documentation of product / process development history post launch, including Periodic Product Reviews where appropriate
Key Skills/ requirements
·       Degree or equivalent in a Chemistry or related discipline
·       Analytical ability to diagnose situations and develop solutions.
·       Good communication skills
·       Ability to work collaboratively across functions and interact with and influence individuals including those where a direct reporting relationship does not exist
Preferred Qualifications:
·       Demonstrated depth/breadth of knowledge in Process Chemistry aspects of API support
