About the role
The primary responsibilities of the Process Engineer are to introduce innovative process engineering and design improvements within key operations such as Coating and Converting to improve safety, quality, and yields, increase throughput, and enhance efficiency. Assisting in the smooth introduction of new equipment; this could include testing, trailing and capital justification.

Duties

  • Assist in planning and controlling production activities to ensure product availability, material flow, and inventory management to meet cost, quality, and production schedule targets.
  • Coordinate and implement efficient, cost-effective production methods for manufacturing hydraulic cylinders and components.
  • Monitor production schedules to ensure deadlines are met, and apply analytic findings to improve production processes.
  • Implement best practices on the shop floor to enhance safety and quality without sacrificing efficiency.
  • Continuously review and improve manufacturing processes to identify and implement improvement opportunities.
  • Identify bottlenecks and apply lean manufacturing techniques to maximise process flow.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation and safe operating instructions, ensuring adherence through regular audits.
  • Lead time studies for accurate production planning and labour management.
  • Conduct production layout reviews to ensure effective process flow.
  • Advocate for and coach team members on lean manufacturing techniques.
  • Ensure ISO quality standards are met throughout design and production processes.
  • Coordinate with production to establish containment strategies for manufacturing issues, followed by root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Address long-term solutions for manufacturing and equipment issues promptly.
  • Implement Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) for manufacturing processes with effective communication and record-keeping.
  • Identify tooling and equipment to enhance quality and efficiency, supporting diversification into new customer markets.
  • Understand product and customer specifications, source and purchase specialised materials, and negotiate with suppliers for optimal pricing and service.
  • Read and develop blueprints, schematic drawings, assembly drawings, design drawings, BOMs, and project costings.
  • Collaborate with team leaders on design requirements and assist in the design and development of new products.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations throughout projects.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in SolidWorks.
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve the quality of finished products.
  • Keep accurate records of Research and Development activities.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties as required by management.

Criteria

  • Proven experience in production engineering
  • Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks and other relevant design software.
  • Excellent analytic, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematic drawings, and assembly drawings.
  • Knowledge of ISO quality standards and safety regulations.
  • Experience with production planning, material sourcing, and supplier negotiation.
  • Familiarity with process documentation, time studies, and production layout reviews.
