Process Engineer/Chemical Engineer

Brownhills (WS8)

Salary Dependant on Experience + Project Based Bonus Scheme

Are you a Process Engineer with a Chemical Engineering Degree? Do you have a strong skillset in chemical calculations?

Are you interested in working in a fast paced challenging environment for an exciting new arm of a well established business at the cutting edge of their industry?

The Process Engineer will be working on large scale high value projects and this is a great chance for the right individual to “get in early” with a part of the business with exciting plans for the future – naturally with this opportunities will present themselves in the future.

Ideally you will have at least 2 years industry experienced as a Process Engineer and hold a degree in chemical engineering,  have experience in P&ID Diagrams and sizing piping systems.

The successful candidate must be very competent when it comes to Chemical calculations – such as Heat Mass Calculations, Chemical Balances Etc. You will need to have strong excel skills ideally to VBA level.

Due to having a strong and supportive team of technical staff the business are able to support those that are a bit light on experience but have a strong academic background with demonstrable talent in chemical calculations we welcome.

The business also welcomes applications from those who have considerably more industry experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting heat and mass balance calculations to optimize processes.
  • Designing and creating Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Specifying appropriate sensors and equipment for process plants.
  • Sizing piping systems to ensure efficient and safe transport of materials.
  • Assisting in the development of Bills of Materials (BOMs) for projects.
  • Playing a key role in the Research & Development department to innovate and improve processes.
  • Actively participating in HAZOP (Hazard and Operability) studies.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure project success.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering is mandatory.
  • At least 2 years of experience in Process Engineering.
  • Strong foundational knowledge in thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and process design.
  • Experience in combustion-related process plants is highly advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
