The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity to be part of our busy production team at Cauldon cement plant in Staffordshire as a Production Operator.
We are looking for an ambitious individual who would like to progress, as this role will form part of our succession planning process. Do you have the aspiration and drive to develop within our team and become a shift manager and beyond? The successful candidate must be willing to develop themselves and undertake further relevant training to meet the needs of the company.
You will patrol, monitor and intervene with fixed and mobile plant to produce clinker and cement while maintaining the highest standards of health and safety, quality, sustainability, efficiency and environmental awareness.
The successful individual will need to be flexible, self-motivated
and possess a positive attitude in their approach to work and all interactions with key stakeholders. Plant operations are 365 days, 24/7 and the role will operate to a rolling 6 week shift pattern, involving night working, weekends and Bank holidays.
Who you are
- A good standard of numeracy and literacy skills.
- Computer literacy (Basics on Word, Excel, SAP etc.)
- Ability to problem solve.
- Good organisational skills.
- Able to work on your own initiative.
- Good communication skills
- Comprehensive understanding of safety procedures and leads by example in relation to safety standards.
- Some operational experience in a similar role or plant is desirable.
The role includes :-
- Having a safety first mindset and contributing to a hazard free environment.
- Completion and recording of pre-start inspections via the company’s digital system.
- Reporting any defective equipment in a timely manner to the management team.
- Supporting maintenance teams with maintaining and monitoring the condition of fixed plant equipment and carrying out some first line maintenance where required.
- Utilization of the control system to control fixed plant equipment.
- Cleaning of the plants Preheater Tower each shift to maintain performance and reliability.
- Having a continuous improvement mindset to improve both the role and plant performance.
