Role: European Category Manager - Metals and Construction Materials

Location: Dublin - Hybrid - 2 days pw office, 3 days pw home working

Salary: Up to €110k + 20% bonus

This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading manufacturing/construction matrix organisation with a truly global remit. You will manage a €500m+ procurement spend across metals and a range of construction commodities such as plastic components, insulations, fasteners, civils and drainage products throughout the main company and a range of subsidiaries. You will continue to develop and implement all category-related decisions for products and services across Europe while interfacing across other regions and central procurement.

This is a perfect role for someone looking to drive improvements across multi-country strategic category improvements, including sustainability and Scope 3 analysis.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Transform category and supplier strategies into actionable sourcing plans aligned with specific portfolio needs
  • Develop sourcing plans that prioritize cost, availability, innovation, and quality considerations
  • Implement regional supplier selection in line with strategy, requirements, supplier base enhancement, and the identification of potential new suppliers. Oversee the efficient RFx process, ensuring selection and onboarding align with agreed-upon strategies
  • Take charge of price negotiations, contract management, and life cycle oversight with suppliers
  • Uphold compliance with procurement processes, SOX, and other legal requirements within the designated category
  • Ensure adherence to the supplier portfolio guidelines within the assigned category/region, maintaining alignment with Project Management
  • Collaborate with the Global Category Manager to anticipate and address changes based on shifts in the supply market dynamics. Oversee supplier performance management
  • Take ownership of agreed-upon KPIs (internal and external) and facilitate their reporting

Requirements:

  • 6+ years of strategic end-to-end procurement experience
  • Experience in procuring metals and construction components - or similar directs
  • Experience managing a Category in a large international company, or, have Category Management as a logical progression opportunity
  • Ability to drive sustainability improvements, ideally also including some experience with Scope 3
  • Strong experience in managing stakeholders across multiple business units, languages and cultures
  • Ability to operate in an unstructured working environment - comfortable with change and uncertainty
