PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
We are currently seeking an advisory (non-contentious) lawyer to support the team's ongoing growth in our Commercial Procurement team.
You will have in the region of 2 years + post-qualifying experience, but we are open minded and welcome applicants with a range of post-qualifying experience; for us it's about getting the right people to join our team.

WHERE WILL YOU WORK?
You will be based in any of the following offices: Manchester, Leeds, Edinburgh or Glasgow for this role. We operate a flexible, hybrid working system comprising a blend of working in the office (3 days per week) and working from home, and we expect that this will continue for the foreseeable future.
THE TEAM
Our procurement team is a recognised market leader, ranked in Band 1 (UK-wide) in the Chambers directory for many years. The team delivers first-rate client service, covering both advisory and disputes work across the full range of procurement regulations.
Our advisory work includes numerous nationally and internationally significant projects, with a particular focus on Government contracts, transport (rail, bus, ports and aviation), utilities (water, electricity, gas and heat), healthcare, regeneration and wider development.
Our advisory team also works side-by-side with our specialist procurement disputes lawyers, providing technical and strategic input into contentious matters, including behind the scenes settlements and major Court cases.
The team's varied workload covers all of the current mainstream procurement regulations (public sector, utilities and concessions), alongside sector-specific rules such as the passenger transport regime. A big focus for this year and beyond is supporting clients with the transition to the Procurement Act 2023 in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, with certain of our Scottish clients also being subject to the new rules.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The role requires strong technical expertise, teamwork, and enthusiasm. The work will involve:
Giving strategic advice, to authorities / utilities and their contracting partners, on procurement issues such as the availability of exemptions to make direct awards and contract modifications
