Global manufacturing engineering business require a Procurement Lead. The role is fast-paced and the Procurement Lead will be responsible for a mix of strategic and operational tasks, while delegating workload of a team of Buyers.
The Procurement Lead will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the procurement department; organising a team of Buyers, while strategically managing their own commodity spend of c£15M. This is very much a hands-on procurement role, the Procurement Lead will have both strategic and operational responsibilities. The commodity spend in focus will largely be subcontract machining and fabrications.
Specific duties of the Procurement Lead include:
- Ownership of the machining and fabrication commodity - ensuring site supply and leveraging group opportunities
- Delegate workload for a team of Buyers
- Contribute to cost reduction targets
- Drive improved performance of suppliers supporting UK site in terms of OTD/OTIF
- Develop and own procurement workflows and work instructions
- Intercompany collaboration with procurement colleagues overseas
Procurement Lead applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Procurement experience within a manufacturing or engineering business
- Ability to lead / delegate workload of a team of Buyers
- Hands-on in approach, day-to-day activities are akin to a Senior Buyer or Strategic Buyer
- Strategic procurement capability
- MRP/ERP literacy
