Your new company
My client is the Centre of Procurement Expertise for, and owned jointly by all of Scotland's Universities and Colleges; it provides a wide range of procurement / supply chain related shared services both as a central team and within Universities and Colleges. You will be embedded within one of Scotland's leading colleges, which supports 14,500 students and over 600 staff. They're an award-winning organisation with state-of-the-art campuses in Central Scotland.
Your new role
Reporting to the college Head of Procurement, the Procurement Project Manager will be employed within the client's institutional procurement service, and will be a key part of both institutions' teams and will enjoy ownership of activity related to the projects attached to the Skills Transition Centre, a key project within the region's Growth Deal Innovation theme that will directly contribute to the vision "to create a dynamic and distinctive area at the heart of central Scotland".
The Skills Transition Centre will ensure skills are integral to the success of the Growth Deal and central to Falkirk and Grangemouth's successful Just Transition. It will support the current and future workforce to become resilient, agile, climate-literate and fully equipped to take advantage of opportunities in our rapidly changing economy.
To support this transformation, FVC will invest in state-of-the-art equipment with the associated skills programme development over the next 10 years which will help to meet these needs - responding to emerging sectors as well as supporting transitioning industries including down-stream petroleum, chemicals and polymers based in the adjacent Grangemouth cluster.
What you'll need to succeed
You will utilise your excellent stakeholder management skills to ensure delivery of the procurements linked to the Skills Transition Centre and the institution's operational procurement services. This role is an opportunity to provide a key contribution to FVC's strategic development and decarbonisation activity.
Prospective candidates should have experience of working in a procurement role with a high level of autonomy, and have relevant tendering/carbon reduction experience with appropriate knowledge of EU / GPA / Scottish procurement regulations.
Of particular importance is excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, to enable effective delivery across all areas of the institution.
The post holder will be an ambassador for both institutions and the profession generally and will demonstrate the highest levels of professionalism and ethical behaviour.
The role is a demanding one and as an organisation that continues to develop to meet the dynamic needs of its client institutions, a procurement professional at the relevant level with a strong work ethic.
