Spinlock is a multi award winning privately owned Company based in Cowes for nearly 50 years. We design and assemble all our products in Cowes. We are primarily export selling Worldwide to over 60 countries. We employ over 60 people across three sites.
This role is based in our newly renovated HQ building in Cowes town. Working closely with a team of three in Design and three in Product Team, this role centres on the progression of the Spinlock PROTECT range, with a focus on innovation, sustainability, and structural soft goods design. Our PROTECT range refers to our safety goods such as Lifejackets, bouyancy aids, safety lines, kneepads and technical bags.
We are looking for a hands-on designer, experienced in complex constructions and materials with a keen eye for product aesthetics. You'll need good practical skills to develop early prototype samples, and experience of working directly with external suppliers. We're looking for a strong communicator with excellent Project Management skills. A competency in sketching, and skilled in key design software including some 3D experience. Practical sewing and pattern making skills to create early simple prototypes. Structured “concept validation” and comprehensive product testing experience. A focused “can do” attitude is important to achieve our goals and targets on time within our creative team to budget. You will be able to identify market opportunities, clearly communicate ideas and deliver products within the development timetable. Ability to create clear and detailed garment tech documents and work closely with our overseas suppliers. Experience of technical soft goods development with an in-depth knowledge of construction, materials, processes and new technologies, supported with a strong sense for product aesthetics.
