Job DescriptionWould you like to join a multi-disciplined engineering team involved in the development, manufacture and testing of a number of new products? Our Client MOD related is currently has vacancies for Product Development Engineers in the Future Programmes team, to support the design and development of advanced munitions products at our Glascoed site in South Wales.As a Product Development Engineer, you will be responsible for technical aspects of your respective programmes. Projects will cover all phases of a product’s lifecycle: concepts, development, testing, qualification, production and in service support. You will work with a team of engineers to deliver a variety of project goals, depending on project size and complexity. This diverse role will provide you with the opportunity to engage with many different engineering disciplines, as well as gaining a wealth of experience in this area. There will also be opportunities to engage with many other functions within a further wide range of projects.The position will be based primarily at Glascoed, Monmouthshire, however, occasional travel to other manufacturing and test/evaluation sites will be necessary. ResponsibilitiesAssisting Product Development and systems engineering activities for new productsCoordination of Product Development and related engineering activitiesConfiguration and maintenance of Engineering bills of materials for productsProduct development and evaluation e.g. Pugh Matrices, Fault Tree Analysis, Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA)Manufacture, test and evaluation of munitions productsConducting and managing trials in a safe and suitable manner - from the trials planning stage to completion of the trial and presentation of the dataDevelopment and use safe systems of workDevelopment of quality systemsManagement of stakeholders, both internal and external, to ensure that development activities are completed to time and scheduleContribution to the Life Cycle Management Process where requiredContribution to the Risk Management processLiaise with customers as demandedWorking as part of an integrated project team, with regular engagement across other functions; including project management, procurement (supply chain) and commercialCompetencies, Skills and QualificationsEssentialBachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar Engineering discipline) Available for immediate startApplicants must be able to demonstrate a proven capability in development projects, in particular system integrationProven ability to take ownership, prioritise and deliver product Engineering tasks within development projects to ensure completion within agreed timescales and to required standardAbility to produce high quality technical reportsA good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and strong IT skillsA good understanding of project/risk management and the ability to use associated tools and techniquesAbility to read and understand engineering drawings and modelsDesirableMaster’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Electronic Engineering with proof of experience in developing complex electro-mechanical systemsMinimum 5 Years Product Development experience in the Engineering industryChartered Engineer or Membership with appropriate Engineering InstitutionKnowledge and experience of munition design and manufactureExperience of product test and evaluation activities Familiarity with the Life Cycle Management (LCM) processA working knowledge of Systems Engineering and Engineering design Working knowledge of Risk ManagementAwareness of relevant manufacturing technologies and processesCurrent valid UK Security Clearance to SC level or higherWhat we are looking for in youYou will be self-motivated, organised and have good planning skills You will show initiative and be able to work under pressure You will be a logical thinker with the ability to analyse problems Your written and verbal communication skills will be excellentYou will have strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skillsYou will have the ability to work in a team and work independently where required Location: Glascoed
