Brakes are currently recruiting for aProduct Technologist to join the team on a full time, permanentbasis. The role is based at our Ashford office and reports to theHead of Product Technology. It will be your responsibility toprovide support to the technical managers in delivering effectivesupplier management, product compliance, and duediligence.

This role is offering a hybrid workingcontract, with 1 day per week in ourAshford, Kent office for TeamCollaboration, so you must be in a commutable distance and open totravel.

Key Accountabilities &Responsibilities:

Suppliermaintenance:

• Issue andreview performance scorecards
• Monitor GFSIstatus, responding to changes and maintainingdata
• Monitor supplier SEDEX membership status,review risk reports and audit outcomes
• Ensuresupplier and site contacts are up to date in relevantsystems
• Monitor supplier and site (non-GFSI)certification status that may impact on chain of custody or productclaims
• Monitor and report on auditstatus

Productmaintenance:

• Ensureroutine specification reviews arecompleted
• Review specifications to pack copygeneration stage
• Undertake product qualityassessments
• Review artworkproofs
• Issue and review product scorecards toverify policycompliance

Certificationmaintenance:

• Ensurecertified product lists are maintained
• Completemass balance exercises for certifiedranges
• Provide certified product data forcustomer reporting
• Complete internal certifiedclaim validations

Otheractivities:

• Supportcomplaint and rejection investigation with suppliers, asnecessary
• Flexibility to support multiplecategories on projects, as necessary
• Gatherproduct or ingredient data from suppliers in support of customerrequests, policy development etc.
• Supporttechnical managers with specification and artwork progression, asnecessary
• Provide first line cover fortechnical managers in responding to category team and supplierqueries.
• Using the Assure database to maintainproduct and supplier data, conduct spec audits and carry outdatabase searches as appropriate.
• Attendproduct panels where required.
• Support TM inresolving issues as they arise.
• Support TM indelivering specific projects as theyarise.

Aboutyou:

The ideal candidate must havea technical background, and have a full understanding within a foodservice/fast-paced technical team (QA/QC) with a relevant degreein Food Science/Technology. You will be able to demonstrate a goodunderstanding of category and procurement strategies and be able toprioritise your workload and work well under pressure. This is akey role to ensure all customer complaints are investigatedthoroughly so effective communication and interpersonal skills areessential. Ideally, you'll have good analytical skills to reviewdata and highlight any common trends or patterns to reduce anyfurther complaints or incidents. If you enjoy working closely withsuppliers and customers, this is a great role where you will takefull accountability and control to ensure the best outcome isalways achieved.
