Job description

We are currently recruiting for a Warehousing and Production manager for one of our clients based in Hinckley.

Duties of a Warehousing and Production Manager - 

• Complete the agreed production plan in full and on time, ensuring works orders are processed correctly in full to the required specifications.

• To lead and develop team leaders to ensure business requirements are met effectively additionally encouraging production operatives to collaborate and develop in a positive culture.

• Ensure, that all production staff comply with health and safety procedures. Ensure that all control measures arising from risk assessments are met in full. Conduct routine safety audits and behavioral safety discussions.

• Manage, develop, and motivate the production team; set targets in line with business needs and monitor performance.

• Define and implement team communication plan to share performance status through effective team briefs and toolbox talks.

• Ensure that production QA targets are met and that all QA checks are undertaken accurately and on a timely basis to meet product specifications.

• Communicate production requirements to team daily and allocate labour as required.

• Complete daily reporting on production KPI’s and develop reporting improvements.

• Develop standard operating procedures to define best practice and support training.

• Perform standardised work audits to confirm process safety, quality, and efficiency.

• Identify improvement opportunities relating to material costs (scrap reduction & yield improvement)

• Develop and coach the production teams to use problem solving techniques to drive continuous improvement.

• Develop and recommend improvements in equipment, processes, and procedures to improve safety, quality, efficiency and reduce costs. Use of lean manufacturing tools and techniques to be embedded into normal working practices.

• When required as part of the Production Manager personal development process, work offline on projects and activities. This may involve work with others outside of the production department. Arrange suitable cover so that this work can be conducted effectively.

• Conduct return to work interviews, disciplinary and grievance hearings in accordance with Company policies.

Person Specification - 

• Confident leader with effective communication skills within a group and in one on one situations.

• Excellent organizational and time managements skills

• Working knowledge of lean manufacturing tools & techniques (OEE, KANBAN, SMED, TPM, Value Stream Mapping

• Strong problem-solving abilities seeking permanent corrective actions to prevent repeat problems.

• Experienced of working and managing in an ISO structured environment (BRC GS would be advantageous)

• An constantly evolving continuous improvement mindset

• Has experience of working on and within and ERP system environment

• Good understanding of production KPI’s with target-oriented thinking.

• Strong understanding and working knowledge of ERP / WMS business systems: Managing Production/ Stock movements and management.  

• Ability to effectively communicate at all levels

• Excellent literacy numeracy and communication skills

• Strong Working Knowledge of MS Office suite

• The ability to thrive in a changing entrepreneurial environment and a willingness to turn your hand to anything to help.

• Ability to effectively and proactively prioritise and execute tasks in a high pressure, fast paced and changing environment.
