We have a fantastic new opportunity for someone to join our friendly and experienced team as a Production Control Technician. 

The Role

As a Production Control Technician you will be working within a team of office-based staff, working on a rotation shift pattern 24/7/365 within Affinity Water’s Control Operations facility.

This is a key role in Control Operations and you will be required to assist the Duty Control Manager to manage company operations on a 24/7 basis without senior management involvement; except in emergencies. You will ensure that water is moved from production source to customers' tap, meeting our standards of service commitments, and will be responsible for the proper response to alarms from operational assets. You will be a customer focused, logical thinking problem solver, who is used to working in a fast-paced environment where prioritising your workload is key.

Responsibilities:

  • The Production Control Technician is responsible for supporting the Duty Control Manager in ensuring our supply to customers and the strategic management of water distribution, including the optimisation of company assets to meet budgetary requirements.
  • Reviews all incoming alarm traffic and responds in line with company guidelines.
  • Investigate issues, assess risk, accurately record and escalating appropriately, agreeing outcomes, and taking any necessary action, recording decision making and issues on appropriate Company systems.
  • Maintain good communications with both internal and external customers in managing incidents and reporting supply/demand information.
  • Make full and complete use of available supporting material and procedures to ensure efficient response to operational needs and compliance with Regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in and promote the internal feedback process, to actively seek and offer feedback to achieve continuous improvement of Team and self.
  • Commit to participate in training and qualified development to become fully effective in the Control Operations environment.
  • Degree or other appropriate college accreditation.
  • Sets and monitors auditable data capture assets to support performance assessment, planning, regulatory reporting and investment strategy.
  • Skills in relevant systems e.g. Serck, GIS, RIVO, SharePoint Online, Maximo, Miser, PeopleSafe, Tracker, Cortech. MS Office, and Puzzel
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, valve operation, pressure, flow and leakage monitoring/control with the ability to interpret the behaviours of the network and analyse relevant graphical data. Good applied understanding of water treatment processes.
