Production Kitchen Supervisor

As a Production Supervisor, you will be responsible for coordinating and supervising the day-to-day activities of our food manufacturing facility in Arreton on the Isle of Wight. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring the production process runs smoothly, adhering to quality and safety standards, and meeting production targets. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food manufacturing, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.

ZERO WASTE - We're working to become a zero-waste business, incorporating sustainable energy, recyclable packaging and zero produce to landfill. Through culinary craft and manufacturing innovation, we're creating a host of new chilled and ambient products to take care of every tomato.
SMART ENERGY - Our farm is powered sustainably, harnessing the waste heat and carbon dioxide generated by the Isle of Wight's power supply, plus renewable solar energy from our adjacent solar field. We irrigate our crop with harvested rainwater, stored in our on-site reservoirs, and we use focused LEDs to encourage photosynthesis without wasting light energy.
SOIL HEALTH - We grow both organically and conventionally, a twin strategy in which our conventional coconut-based growing substrate is composted to feed our organic soil. This perfectly circular and sustainable system results in zero waste to landfill, no requirement for bought-in compost, and soil that gets healthier every year.

Key accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Supervise Production Activities: Oversee and coordinate daily production activities, ensuring adherence to production schedules and quality standards.
- Team Leadership: Lead and motivate a team of production staff, providing guidance, training, and support to optimise performance.
- Quality Control: Monitor and enforce quality control procedures to guarantee the production of high-quality food products.
- Safety Compliance: Implement and uphold safety regulations, promoting a culture of safety awareness and ensuring compliance with Salsa standards.
- Resource Management: Manage resources efficiently, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to meet production targets and reduce waste.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for process improvement and efficiency gains, implementing strategies to enhance overall production performance.
- Communication: Maintain open communication channels with team members, other departments, and management to address issues, share information, and promote a collaborative work environment.
- Documentation: Ensure accurate and timely completion of production records, reports, and other relevant documentation.
Key Competencies, skills, and behaviors for the role
- Food Manufacturing, or related field preferred.
- Proven experience in a supervisory role within the manufacturing industry.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and best practices in food manufacturing.
- Physically fit and happy to be hands on.
- Ability to multitask.
- Great time management skills.
- Able to overcome issues – solutions focussed.

Salary: £12 - £13.50 an hour depending on experience.
Working Week:
Hours are based on an average 44-hour week, supervising the second shift from 2pm to 10pm. We are a seasonal business, and your working week will vary during our peak and off-peak seasons. This role will need to cover weekends in season. The season spans approximately April through to December and 6 days a week will need to be worked over this period.
