Production Laboratory Shift Lead

Are you an experienced leader of people within a scientific production/operations environment? Do you want to work for a scientific manufacturing leader joining their Microbiology division?

We are recruiting for Production Laboratory Shift Lead, the successful candidate will be the first point of contact for the Production Laboratory team; providing first line management, direction, and leadership to the team.

You will be working on a perm basis, on a 3-week rotating daytime only shift pattern including one weekend in three inside the laboratory operating hours of 07:00-16:30.

Responsibilities:

• Frontline leadership of the Production Laboratory team with a professional approach and role model leadership in all situations - this will include conducting performance discussions and assessments, and other employee relations activities
• Role-model leading by example with a safety-first approach, and constantly challenge to improve our processes with continuous improvement
• Coordinate and supervise day-to-day manufacturing and resource planning in the department to ensure demand is met
• Set daily direction for your departments by effectively leading tiered meetings, whilst personally owning the Tier 1 (department) review
• Support the troubleshooting of issues in a calm and professional manner and provide clear, concise, and appropriate feedback to the business
• Perform intermediate and finished product batch record review prior to production release, ensuring production and quality Right First Time are maintained
• IN (incident) raising and investigation in SAP and QN related investigation and reports
• Plan the onboarding and ongoing training of new starters
• Undertake the upskilling of all team members to optimise team efficiency and drive engagement
• Monitor and ensure replacement of Production Laboratory raw materials, including consumables
• Deputise for manufacturing management when required to ensure output and performance
• Be accountable for production quality output on-time and in-full
• Utilise computer software to process information - SAP ERP, Microsoft Office, and custom programs
• Conduct return-to-work and absence review meetings

Requirements/Qualifications:

• Experienced leader of people within a production/operations environment
• Good collaboration and communication skills; with the ability to lead, train and support others
• Drive for Results - High level of technical and leadership skills and the ability to train/coach others
• Decision Quality - Attention to detail and a systematic approach
• Role Model Leader - Hands on approach and flexible attitude to daily work/responsibilities, ability to lead by example
• A calm approach and ability to act decisively when responding to production critical troubleshooting
• Proactive approach, with a desire to coach and lead others to meet scheduled targets and deadlines in a fast-paced technical environment
