Production Operative - Afternoon Shift

Our Industrial Laundry site is based in Chorley, Lancashire.

Main Responsibilities:

You will be part of a large, hardworking, friendly team responsible for ensuring that our customers receive outstanding levels of service, and that all work is completed to the highest quality and hygiene standards.

You will be responsible for processing customer items using large industrial machinery. The items you will be handling includes, bedding, towels, tablecloths etc. The tasks can be repetitive and will require concentration skills, attention to detail and a high level of health and safety awareness.

No experience is required. Full training will be provided, and you will have the opportunity to develop the skills of a Multi-Skilled Operative. A personal development plan will be agreed between yourself and management, in which you will have the opportunity to discuss any career aspirations and explore development opportunity. Once you have completed your probationary period, you will have access to apply onto one of the ranges of Apprenticeship courses on offer and the company will continue to support your personal and career development.

What we are looking for:

• Good communications skills are essential, both verbal and written.
• Good level of physical fitness and be comfortable with working on your feet for long periods.
• Experience of working in a customer focused environment.
• Experience of working within a fast-paced production environment (desirable but not essential).
• Great team player and able to take own initiative and be highly responsible.
• Willing to learn new skills.
• Good work ethic.

“Hi, my name is Jamie Hargreaves, a Production Leader at Chorley. I joined the business in 2006 as a weekend worker, whilst I studied my A-Levels in college. For 2 years I worked weekends as a Production Operative, until taking a permanent position. After a further 2 years, I was promoted to Packing Supervisor and then Shift Supervisor. I was then promoted to Trainee Production Manager and the company supported my development to the role of Production Leader at the Mossley site. In 2018 , Mossley closed; and I took a position elsewhere, before returning in 2019 to the Chorley Site, where I am today.

The support and guidance received over the years and my passion for the business has helped drive me and chase new opportunities. Elis have enrolled me on a Level 5 Leadership and Management Apprenticeship and are continuing to support me on my journey for the next step in my career.

Working Schedule and Pay:

• Monday to Friday - 14:00 - 22:00
• £11.92 per hour - standard rate.

Permanent contracts are available after successful probationary periods.
