Connect Appointments are currently seeking a Production Operative (Yard Shunter) to join our client's team working within a wood shavings company in Solihull.
No previous shunting or production operator experience required. On-the-job training will be given, including FLT training.
Our client manufactures animal bedding out of good quality (Grade A) recycled wood. As the Yard Shunter Driver, you will manoeuvre trailers using a shunter unit to different areas of the yard, picking-up and setting-down laden and unladen trailers.
Combined with carrying out general production duties, including operating cutting-edge machinery and driving a fork lift truck. Conducting daily checks on the Shunter unit and other plant machinery, ensuring defects are reported.
As a Production Operative - Yard Shunter, your duties and responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
- Driving vehicles on-site in a safe manner, ensuring compliance with all site requirements
- Ensuring consideration is given to other drivers, colleagues and pedestrians in the work areas
- Carrying out general production operator duties
- Carrying out statutory checks and report defects
- Ensuring on-site house-keeping standards are always maintained
- Accurate completion and handling of relevant paperwork
- Use of FLT, shunter unit and other mobile plant
As such, to be successful you will have a good awareness of safe working practices and a positive attitude to H&S. Combined with:
- Good team working skills
- Reliable, with a "can-do" attitude
- Good communications skills
What's on offer? 45 hours per week, working Monday to Saturday (with a day off in between); with the hours of 5am to 2:30pm. Paid at 11 p/h, increasing to 16.50 for Saturdays and back shift hours, and 19.25 for Sunday working.
