This role within Tube / Rig Assembly requires the accurate assembly of components into high-value, complex detection systems, maintaining high levels of quality and safety.
Full-time: 37.5 hours per week
Core hours: 8am to 5.30pm Monday to Thursday, 8am to 4.30pm Friday
Typical hours for these roles: 8am to 4pm
Introduction
Photek Ltd is a privately owned company located in East Sussex currently employing just over 60 people. Our core business is design and manufacture of specialised imaging detectors and systems covering a diverse range of industries from aerospace to biomedical. Applications for such detectors include the detection of single photons and ultrafast cameras capable of sub-nanosecond exposure times.
Job Summary
- Preparation and cleaning of components used in sub-assemblies.
- Manual assembly operations.
- Use of small hand tools.
- Use of automated equipment used in assembly processes.
- Completion of paperwork, recording data.
- Use of welding and/or soldering equipment.
- Use of lathes, mills and drills
- Measurement of parts and inspection (possibly using a microscope)
- Follow detailed written production procedures.
- Complete operations within given time frame.
- Good communication skills and able to work in several teams.
- The role may include other reasonable duties or tasks that aid in the production of Photek products.
Person Specification
Qualifications
- Good level of education with a minimum of GCSE Maths, English grade 6-9 (A-C) or equivalent - Essential
Experience
- Relevant experience of working in a factory environment assembling small complex components - Essential
Knowledge
- An understanding of Soldering / Vacuum brazing/ induction heating / Cleaning Systems - Desirable
Skills & Abilities
- Good understanding of the English language both written and verbal.- Essential
- Good attention to detail to accurately follow work instructions and documented procedures.- Essential
- High level of dexterity the ability to assemble small components.- Essential
- Good level of computer literacy (to include use of programs) - Desirable
