Role -Production Planner
Salary - £28,000 (+ annual bonus potential of £1.5K)
Location – Trafford
Type – Permanent
Hours - 37.5hr week; Mon-Thurs 08:30 to 17:00 (45min Lunch), Fri 08:30 to 16:00 (1hr Lunch)
Reed are currently working with a multinational manufacturing company who are looking to recruit a permanent Production Planner to join their team.
The client is seeking a detail-oriented Production Planner to join the team, responsible for creating, modifying, and managing production schedules. The ideal candidate will ensure the smooth and cost-efficient flow of our production operations, monitoring inventory levels, and facilitating the timely delivery of products to customers.
Day-to-day of the role:
• Review sales forecasts and current orders to assess inventory status and upcoming production needs.
• Create, evaluate, and modify purchase orders to support developed production schedules.
• Verify resource availability (material, equipment, and labour) for production, aiming to deliver excellent customer service at optimal inventory levels.
• Address and resolve production issues promptly to minimize delays.
• Recommend solutions to reduce production costs and improve processes and product quality.
• Monitor and adjust production schedules to meet customer service deadlines.
• Compile status and performance reports, submitting them to management in a timely manner.
• Inform relevant departments of changes to current production schedules.
• Participate in the development and implementation of an improved Production Planning system.
• Source suppliers based on price, availability, necessity, quality, and logistical expenses, and evaluate their performance.
• Collaborate with internal departments to ensure purchase requirements are met.
• Create and update purchase orders, monitor shipments, and ensure timely arrival of goods.
• Resolve invoice/PO discrepancies to authorize payment.
• Issue and track credit requests for vendor issues.
• Negotiate price, credit terms, discounts, packaging, and shipping methods with suppliers.
• Maintain vendor and item records in the online system.
• Assist with special projects, reporting, and tasks as needed.
• Build and maintain positive, long-term supplier relations.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Proven experience in production planning
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
• Good communication and negotiation abilities.
• Proficiency in MS Office and production planning software.
• Knowledge of inventory and supply chain management.
• Familiarity with quality standards and health & safety regulations.
