Our client is looking to hire a Production Planning Manager to be responsible for all planning aspects in their specialist manufacturing arm of the business.
As the production planner you will be required to produce a master production schedule to ensure goods are produced on time and in a profitable manner. You will be responsible for the allocation and movement of all materials and resources on site, ensuring the smooth and cost-effective flow of production operations.
Location: Gloucester
Key Tasks (not limited to);
- Generation of production plans / master production schedule for multiple products.
- Plan and prioritise operations to ensure maximum performance and minimum delay.
- Ensure availability of materials and labour in-line with the production schedule.
- Working with senior managers, assign staff to particular production operations.
- Schedule shifts according to production needs.
- Monitor jobs to ensure they are complete on time and within budget.
- Address and resolve issues when they arise to minimise disruption.
- Compile and report output information (number of goods delivered on time, hours of re-work, scrap produced).
- Mentoring of the team, and development of both the team and the system.
- Ownership of MRP data.
- Modify production bill of materials (BOM’s), or product configurator data, as required.
- Handle queries and issues that may arise due to customer or supplier behaviour.
- Support generation of S&OP plans.
- Collaborate with all aspects of the company.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Experience & Skills
- Production Planning, Production Control or Master Scheduling experience desired.
- Experience of leading a team, or the ability to do so.
- Proven ability to manage and improve systems is essential.
- Proven background of being organised and results-driven with great problem-solving skills.
- Hardworking, driven individual who thrives on the challenge of improving systems and processes.
- Strong communication, persuasion, and presentation skills.
- Excellent customer facing skills.
- Financial reporting abilities.
- Advanced IT skills including MS Office, Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, and MRP/ERP.
- An understanding of lean manufacturing would also be an advantage.
