POSITION: Area Manager
DEPARTMENT: Manufacturing
LOCATION: Components, Wrexham
REPORTING TO: Components Production Manager
JOB REQUIREMENTS
The Area Manager role is fundamental to the performance of the Components Business at the Wrexham Site and has an active role in all five Wrexham strategic pillars; Safety, Quality, Productivity / Output, Continuous Improvement and People.
The overall responsibility of the role is to:
  • Ensure that the required crewing levels and skills are in place to deliver the forecasted output on time,
  • Maintain compliance to specification and on cost
  • Supporting and leading the drive to continuously improve our processes.
  • Capitalise on opportunities to improve the current methods and equipment
To deliver on the above it will be necessary to:
  • Ensure adherence to Department’s Health, Safety and Environmental policies
  • Plan and monitor to ensure delivery objectives of objectives
  • Deploy Continuous Improvement methodologies to achieve challenging targets in labour productivity, machine utilisation, material usage and scrap / waste reduction projects.
  • Daily deployment meetings with Production Control to determine and agree the production plan, ensuring that all resources are in place to achieve this requirement.
  • Motivating, developing and engaging the team to achieve goals and objectives
  • Identifying training needs to ensure that skill base is not a constraint.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
Candidates will ideally be educated to HNC or degree level in a Technical discipline or qualified through experience and possess knowledge of production processes. A minimum of 3 years’ experience within Manufacturing / Operational Management. Knowledge of process engineering and supervision of Team Leaders / Production Operators would be advantageous.
Self-motivated and decisive problem solver with excellent communication skills, the job holder will possess the proven ability to lead, motivate, co-ordinate and direct, Team Leaders and Production Operators to achieve departmental targets and objectives.
