Job description

The Recruitment Co is urgently recruiting for Production Team Leaders to join our clients well established growing team based in Llanelli.

Contract: Permanent
Salary: £13.05ph (£25,108p.a) increasing to £13.73ph (£26,416p.a) after completion of 6 month probation period- premiums applied for shifts

Hours of work: 37 hours per week. Various shift Patterns including:-
Day Shift-No Premium applied / 3 Shift pattern (Morning 6-2, Afternoon 2-10, Nights 10 -6) Average 15.6% premium / 2 Shift pattern ( 6-2, 2-10pm) Average 10% Shift Premium. Early finishes on a Friday.

Key Tasks/ Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety of the Production Teams at all times through training, monitoring and resolution of follow-up actions
  • Work with the Business Unit Manager, and Business Unit Team, to develop and execute Continuous Improvement plans
  • Ensure QCDSP related systems & procedures are followed.
  • Constantly drive OEE improvements
  • Play an active role, or lead in the BU Managers absence, the daily BU meetings
  • Ensure the daily plan is robust, risk assessed, resourced and is clearly communicated to all shifts within the Business Unit
  • Drive high levels of workplace organisation (5S) standard
  • Ensure time & attendance systems are followed inc exception clearance, OT and holiday approval (maintaining manning levels / cover plan)
  • Intervene and be the secondary point of escalation for production issues that may impact the production plan
  • Deputise for BU Manager when required covering shift hours and responsibilities
  • Conduct layered process audits (LPAs) and drive timely resolution of non conformities
  • Ensure robust planning of labour inc training for versatility & flexibility to ensure coverage on all key assets on all shifts
  • Ensure timely completion of performance appraisals, including the development of personal development plans
  • Ensure timely completion of Return to Work (RTW) interviews
  • Ensure all departmental audits are conducted in a timely manner (ie LPA / Safety / SOP / 1st Offs / Production Closures / Pre Die Check sheets etc
  • Ensure appropriate management of process / engineering changes within the area
  • Management of employee relations (Disc, Griev, Perf Man, Absence)
  • Ensure appropriate management of Quality concerns

Qualifications / Knowledge/ Experience required:

  • Institute of Leadership & Management qualification or equivalent – Desirable
  • IOSH Managing Safely or Felt – Desirable
  • Experience in a similar paced production environment
  • Prior experience in production supervision with a demonstrable aptitude to manage multiple Production Teams
  • An experienced problem solver, investigating and resolving all types of problems, both objectively and systematically
  • Prior experience in managing continuous improvement activities
  • Can effectively deal with a variety of people internally and outside of the business unit structure.
