An excellent opportunity for experienced Production Technicians to join a well-established company during a period of growth.

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent.

Salary: Starting salary £23,000 (depending on skills and experience).

Location: Croydon, Greater London.

About The Company:

They are world leader in the design and manufacture of mechanical and electronic position sensors. The company’s continued growth and success is based on a high level of specialised knowledge and the high performing team of people who work there (~60 people).

The company has a wide range of manufacturing process capabilities including CNC machining, fully automated PCBA, and glass processing. The products and processes are all engineered by in-house engineers.

About The Roles:

They are currently seeking enthusiastic and motivated Production Technicians to join their highly successful and growing team based in Croydon, Greater London across all areas of the business.

Assembly Technician

You will need to have the ability to perform a wide range of manual, semi-automated and automated assembly operations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Screen printing, pad printing on glass and anodised materials
  • Adhesive bonding of plastic components
  • Plaster work and setting circular levels
  • Mechanical assembly and setting of precision levels
  • Inspection of products through the process
  • Record production information in the production database
  • Using CO2 and fibre Lasers to engrave and cut material
  • Understanding angle and sensitivity measurements

Electronics Technician

You will be passionate about electronics and want to learn in an engineering company as part of their Electronics Department. Within this role, they will provide full training to enable you to undertake a full range of specialised manufacturing operations relating to the production of electronic inclinometers, tilt switches and digital displays, to the highest possible quality standards.

Responsibilities include:

  • Perform assembly of a wide range of electronic products, using a range of skills including:
  • Mechanical assembly
  • Bonding and potting
  • Cable preparation
  • Soldering cables and connectors
  • Laser engraving
  • Undertake calibration of the sensors using a range of techniques to ensure they perform to the expected standard

Sensor Vial Technician

You will have a keen engineering interest in understanding how parts are made and wanting to develop in an engineering company. You will undertake the full range of manufacturing operations necessary in the production of precision, ground, bent and sensor vials, ensuring the highest possible quality standard, and on time delivery to our customers.

Responsibilities include:

  • Bending and cutting glass
  • Washing glass vials
  • Manufacture of spirit level vials, bent and ball vials (pipping, blasting, closing)
  • Filling and sealing of vials
  • Dot & transfers on to glass surface
  • Mixing chemical liquids for the filling of products
  • Operate and change the product on the Automated Vial Making Machine (AVMM)
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks to maintain efficiency of AVMM
  • Prepare production equipment for operation by making equipment setup adjustments
  • Set-up production printing equipment & carry out printing
  • Operate production equipment to produce the products

Other responsibilities (all Production Technician roles):

  • Read and understand the works instructions, drawings and other manufacturing documentation
  • Maintain production quality by strictly following policies and procedures
  • Update manufacturing documentation to ensure correct procedures are being used
  • Use of the company quality and production systems, such as non-conformance, serial numbers, works instructions and engineering change system
  • Maintain quality standards by conducting first-piece and in-process inspection
  • Take part and contribute to regular team meetings, and make suggestions for improvements

Essential Attributes

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing function (desirable)
  • Relevant higher-level qualification (level 5, HND, Degree etc.) or previous experience in electronics in a manufacturing role (Essential for a role within Electronics, desirable for other areas of the business)
  • To have a good understanding of English - both written and oral
  • GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths
  • Good knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word etc) with basic computer skills to ensure that all documentation and databases are completed correctly
  • High level of manual dexterity and hand eye coordination
  • Able to demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail
  • Organised, able to prioritise and manage a busy workload and work to a high output level
  • Proactive and self-starting
  • A flexible, can-do approach
  • Methodical and organised approach to work
  • Good communication skills
  • Problem solving skills
  • Able to communicate and work with individuals at all levels

Compensation & Benefits

  • Full time permanent role, Monday to Friday (39 hrs per week)
  • Competitive salary (Based on experience)
  • Performance bonus (up to 10% of salary)
