Role overview

An exciting opportunity for an experienced Corporate/M&A Professional Support Lawyer, or an experienced Corporate/M&A lawyer looking to move away from a traditional fee-earning role, to join a highly regarded law firm initially on a project/fixed term basis as a Professional Support Lawyer for our Corporate Team.

The Professional Support Lawyer will support the UK Corporate practice which is active in a broad range of transactional and other corporate matters, including shareholder arrangements, investments, reorganisations etc. Knowledge of the use of legal technology and innovation in legal precedents would also be helpful but not essential. The intention is for the successful candidate to be a central source of legal and practical expertise and best practice for the Corporate Team.

The PSL will be a member of the Corporate Team and report to the Corporate Partners.

Key responsibilities

  • Initial responsibility is to prepare precedents for our core work being shareholder agreements, articles of association and share purchase agreements as well as ancillary documents such as board and shareholder resolutions.
  • Work closely with the Corporate Partners to develop and maintain standard forms, precedents and practice notes.
  • In the longer term, to work with the Corporate fee-earners to establish a central and consistent approach to knowledge management within the team.
  • Working with the Corporate team to proactively capture and disseminate know-how to demonstrate best practice.

Knowledge, skills and experience

The ideal candidate will have the following qualities:

  • An experienced Professional Support Lawyer, used to operating at a senior level, but fee-earners, with at least 6 years' experience looking to make the transition into a support role will also be considered.
  • Excellent drafting skills and attention to detail
  • Broad experience of corporate and company law (including private M&A) with in-depth knowledge of the Companies Act 2006 and corporate transactions.
  • A proactive individual who can ensure that all fee-earners who are involved with the precedent/know-how process alongside the PSL are working towards strict deadlines
  • Strong client focussed approach with excellent analytical, communication and organisational skills.
