Job description

The Professor in Mental Health Nursing will provide strategic and operational input to expanding and developing Mental Health Nursing research and practice at Trinity College Dublin. Mental health is one of the key pillars of research and research strengths within the School of Nursing and Midwifery and the post will build on the current research activity and research priorities of the School. The position is also being established in the context of supporting the Trinity Centre for Practice and Healthcare Innovation and the Institute of Population Health within the School of Nursing and Midwifery, and in exploring the potential for a developing a centre for Mental Health research. The School has recently embarked on its Strategic Plan 2023-2030: Transforming healthcare and creating a better future for all, through which we provide world-leading educational programmes to prepare nursing, midwifery and other health professionals to meet the needs and inform the future development of national and international healthcare. This programmes are aligned to our cutting-edge collaborative research across our research centres and research themes. The School is seeking to appoint a motivated and talented individual who will become an integral part of the Mental Health Nursing team, and who will enable the sustainability of Mental Health Nursing research innovation in the future. The appointee will be expected to provide leadership in policy development at national and regional levels. The person appointed will be required to build on and lead the School’s existing research and teaching profile in the area of Mental Health and Mental Health Nursing and advance research priorities by developing and disseminating evidence-based care within the local, national and international contexts. Post Title: Professor in Mental Health Nursing Post status: Permanent Contract Hours of Post: Hours of work for academic staff are those as prescribed under Public Service Agreements.
