Job description

Location: Main Campus This is an exciting opportunity for an exceptional candidate to lead and develop our flagship undergraduate medical course (MBChB). As the senior academic leading the undergraduate medical course, you will lead the development of the undergraduate medical curriculum, driving changes to enhance student experience, ensuring that students are well prepared for work and responding to external developments (i.e. GMC, NHS Workforce plan). You will demonstrate proven leadership skills and have the ability to influence stakeholders, for example our NHS trust partners, to deliver high quality outcomes for our students. You will have a real passion for teaching and openness to new ways of delivery. You will be clinically qualified and active with substantial previous experience of delivering undergraduate medical education. It is anticipated that the Course Lead role will occupy approx. 60% of an individual’s work load with the other 40% through clinical activity or other roles but this is flexible. This is an academic post and will be offered on an open-ended basis. The role of MBChB Programme Director will be offered to the successful candidate for an initial period of five years, extendable by mutual agreement. The appointed candidate will also assume a substantive open-ended academic role within the School of Medicine and Population Health at Professorial (Teaching-Specialist or Teaching and Research) level. We’re one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK. The University’s Total Reward Package includes a competitive salary, a generous Pension Scheme and annual leave entitlement, as well as access to a range of learning and development courses to support your personal and professional development. We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from across the world, whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience. Follow @sheffielduni and @UniOfSheffJobs on Twitter for more information.
