Future Port Talbot is the largest engineering project we've undertaken and will transform the region to become a major hub for green energy and sustainability transforming South Wales' decarbonisation drive.
Driving the Future Port Talbot programme forward is a critical role for ABP and requires a Programme Manager with a breadth of infrastructure development knowledge that can be applied to directing and managing a team of diverse and multi-disciplinary experts, achieving the best outcomes for every element of the programme and driving the programme forward. The role is pivotal in ensuring the various workstreams across Future Port Talbot contribute to the success of the strategic Programme objectives whilst aligning to ABP’s core values and processes.
Accountabilities
- Plan the programmes from start to completion involving deadlines, milestones and processes
- Support the Head of Programme with evaluation strategies to monitor performance and determine the need for improvements
- Formulate, organise and monitor inter-dependent and inter-connected projects
- Support the Head of Programme with the creation of appropriate strategies and objectives, focussing on the transition from development and design to delivery stage.
- Evaluate reports prepared by managers to determine progress and issues
- Ensure program operations and activities adhere to legal guidelines and internal policies
- Support the Head of Programme with updating ABP Executive and Senior Management colleagues on programme progress.
Experience & Skills
- Proven experience as a Programme Manager or other senior managerial position
- Thorough understanding of project/programme management techniques and methods
- Excellent Knowledge of programme performance evaluation and change management principles
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office; working knowledge of programme/project management software (MS Project, P6 etc.) is a strong advantage
- Outstanding leadership and organisational skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving ability
- Experience with programmes of work with CAPEX above £500m
- Client-side experience
- Appreciation of planning and consenting regimes and environmental regulations
